來自台灣的服裝設計師黃美玲，曾任知名時裝品牌「夏姿」的設計師，隨夫婿來美後她繼續攻讀這項專業，五年前開始自創服裝品牌 Meline，由於品味出眾又能掌握流行，已引起美國主流媒體和時尚界關注。
黃美玲多年來在奧斯丁社區活動中教媽媽們做衣服，手藝與美感專業皆廣獲好評，她所舉辦的服裝秀總是令人眼睛一亮，也多次獲得美國時尚雜誌推薦，讓她興起自創品牌的念頭。
談 到創業艱辛，黃美玲說：「創業之後興趣就要面臨很多挑戰，有時自認為好的設計卻不見得好賣，想要同時掌握東西方女性的服裝品味，我五年來不斷觀察調整，才有今天的成績。」黃美玲認為要抓住流行市場的最好方法，就是多參加藝術活動、常與年輕人交流並且廣學才藝，她笑說：「每次我跳 Hip Hop 就會產生很多幾何圖形的靈感喔。」
剛剛推出 Meline 秋季系列，黃美玲強調，今年最流行的穿著就是巧妙運用拼接與混 搭，這正好讓最擅長編織設計的她充分發揮，一件件混拼著針織、棉布、絨布、緞帶的作品，顯示設計者源源不絕的創意。目前多家百貨公司都有興趣邀她設櫃，而已在奧斯丁擁有展售點的Meline，現在也積極準備在達拉斯設專賣店。
